Bonding: The Conservative Cosmetic Dentistry Treatment for Broken Teeth

Bonding: The Conservative Cosmetic Dentistry Treatment for Broken Teeth

When a patient breaks a single tooth, especially a teenager breaks a tooth, many times bonding is an excellent choice of cosmetic dentistry to correct the esthetics and broken tooth. This is truly an artistic process and requires a high level of skill to master. When done correctly, artistic bonding to repair these teeth is much more conservative then doing a porcelain veneer or crown. Additionally, many times the teeth have not finished erupting and will be moved with braces later.

Our office receives many referrals from pediatric dentists and from dentists to complete these dental bonding procedures. The photo shows a 13 year old who sheared off more that half the front tooth. Notice that we artistically placed many layers of color and specially tints to mimic the adjacent tooth. The size and contours were also created to mimic the natural tooth.
